Dr. Uri Elbaz completed medical studies at the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine, completed specialization in ophthalmology at the Asaf ha-Rofe Hospital in 2008, where he served as a specialist ophthalmologist for nearly two and a half years and combined clinical duty with academic activities.
In 2011, Dr. Elbaz traveled to Toronto, Canada for a fellowship in corneal disease at the Toronto Western Hospital, branch of the University of Toronto. During his two years there, he gained extensive experience in treating corneal diseases, performing laser surgery to remove eyeglasses, and advanced corneal transplant surgery in adults.
From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Elbaz performed another fellowship in pediatric anterior segment disease, unique of this type and the first of its kind in Israel, including children and infant corneal transplant surgeries as well as congenital cataract therapy for newborn infants at children’s university hospital, The Hospital for Sick Children.
In September 2015 Dr. Elbaz has returned to Israel and joined the cornea experts team at the Beilinson Hospital, where he heads the Anterior Segment Disease and Pediatric Cataract Clinic at the Schneider Hospital. Dr. Elbaz has extensive surgical experience of hundreds of eye surgeries, considerable professional knowledge, courteous treatment of patients and the good of the patient as the chief goal. His participation in scientific conferences in Israel and around the world gives him exposure to the latest technologies and ideas, as well as being constantly updated on emerging medical techniques and surgical methods carried out at various medical centers around the world. Dr. Elbaz is engaged in research, and has published dozens of articles in high-quality international newspapers and is a member of the Israeli Association of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
