Since 2014 Dr. Yaniv Barkana has served as chair of the Glaucoma Department of the Israeli Medical Association.
Medical studies at the Hadassah School of Medicine, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; specialization in ophthalmology at the Asaf ha-Rofe Medical Center; clinical fellowship in glaucoma at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Hospital in New York, under the leading glaucoma specialists Professor Robert Rich and Professor Jeffrey Liebman.
Dr. Barkana has conducted numerous studies in ophthalmology, which he gives lectures on at international conferences and which he publishes in leading professional journals.
Until December 2015, Dr. Barkana acted as a senior specialist in ophthalmology and a surgeon in the Ophthalmology Department at the Asaf ha-Rofe Medical Center, and a senior lecturer at the Tel Aviv University School of Medicine. Today he practices private medicine, consulting for biotech companies, and technological entrepreneurship.
All of these provide Dr. Barkana with extensive experience in dealing with a wide array of complex eye problems, as well as being updated on the latest diagnostic, treatment and surgery methods.
Dr. Barkana practices diagnosis, treatment and surgery of a variety of glaucoma cases, including laser treatments and innovative surgical solutions. Dr. Barkana is particularly adept in cases of closed-angle or narrow-angle glaucoma.
Dr. Barkana also performs cataract surgery using advanced intraocular lens transplants to reduce the use of glasses.
