About Dr. Farkash Uri

Dr. Uri Farkash, graduate of the Sackler School of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University in 1995 – as part of the IDF academic reserve program. Has served in the IDF in a variety of positions, including the head of the Orthopedics Department, until his discharge in the rank of major. Parallel to the military service, Dr. Farkash had specialized in orthopedic surgery at the Shiba Hospital in Tel ha-Shomer. After completing his specialty in orthopedics, Dr. Farkash has undergone advanced studies in the surgery of the hand at the Hand and Upper Limb Center, London, Ontario and the Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Canada, and has completed his fellowship in the surgery of the hand at the Tel ha-Shomer Hospital. During these years he has accumulated considerable clinical and surgical experience.

Starting in 2012, Dr. Farkash has worked as a senior physician in the Department of Hand Surgery and Microsurgery at the Meir Hospital.

As part of his practice, Dr. Farkash is considered one of the leading surgeons in the country in the surgery of the hand under wide local anesthetic (the “Wide Awake” technique), a technique that allows performing complex upper limb surgeries without the use of general anesthesia.

In 2017, Dr. Farkash was selected to establish and manage the Surgery of the Hand Department at the Assuta Ashdod University Hospital.

Dr. Uri Farkash serves as a secretary of the Israeli Society for Surgery of the Hand, a lecturer at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, regularly publishes articles and research in the professional press, gives lectures at conferences and instructs medical students and interns in the surgery of the hand field.
