Prof. Bachar Irit

Education

Professor Irit Bachar has graduated with honors from the Technion Faculty of Medicine. Specialized in ophthalmology at the Ophthalmology Department of the Rabin Medical Center. Won an Outstanding Intern award from the Israeli Ophthalmologists Association and from the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.

After the internship, Prof. Bachar had completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in the Ophthalmology Department at the Toronto Western Hospital University in Toronto, Canada. There she gained an extensive experience in laser surgery, cataract surgery, corneal diseases as well as corneal transplant surgery.

Upon coming back to Israel, Professor Bachar returned to work at the Rabin Medical Center, Beilinson Campus, and is currently the head of the Ophthalmology Department at Beilinson Hospital. Professor Bachar also serves as a medical director of Assuta Optica, the center for removal of eyeglasses with laser.

Membership in professional organizations

Professor Bachar is engaged in research, and has published dozens of articles in international papers. She also mentors medical students and interns, and gives lectures at scientific conferences in Israel and around the world.

Member of the American and European Academies of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Organization for Cataract Surgery and Glasses Removal Surgery.
