Blood Vessels Laboratory

Diagnosing the problem: aesthetic or medical, and adapting the treatment method to the patient are essential steps to the success of the procedure. In order to achieve this an accurate diagnosis must be performed by means of a preliminary ultrasound test.

At Medica you will find a dedicated laboratory for diagnostic tests of arterial and venal blood vessels using ultrasound (a test showing the anatomical structure and characteristics of the organ using sound waves) and Doppler (a real-time imaging of blood flow and velocity in the blood vessels) tests.

The test allows diagnosing deep and superficial vein failure, identify deep or superficial vein thrombosis, measure blood flow velocity, detect anatomical vein structure and location, and rule out a medical problem or otherwise confirm a vascular pathology. All these are essential for choosing the most appropriate treatment. The decoding is performed by Prof. Zelikovsky, one of Israel’s and the world’s leading experts in the field of blood vessels.

The tests are non-invasive and radiation free, and are performed using an ultrasound/duplex device.

A referral for the test may be obtained from a family doctor or any other doctor, or independently at a cost of NIS 600.

Types of tests at the Blood Vessels Laboratory:

Duplex of the aorta and the lower hollow vein.

Purpose of the test is to diagnose aneurysm in the aorta or a renal artery stenosis.

Carotid arteries Duplex scan.

Diagnosis of stenosis of the arteries supplying blood to the brain.

Doppler of the peripheral blood vessels.

Aims to identify or eliminate possible blockages in the arteries of the legs or the hands. The test is performed both in a resting and an active physical state.

Digital platysmography

Detection of small blood vessels disease, such as the Raynaud disease. The test measures blood flow velocity which is used to indicate the openness of the blood vessels.
