Intraocular Injections

Injections of one of three following medicine types: Avastin, Lucentis, Eylea

Avastin, Lucentis and Eylea are similar medicinal substances that can be injected into the eye, and are widely used as a routine treatment for retinal diseases: macular retinal degeneration (AMD), edema of the eye as a result of diabetes (diabetic retinopathy), and edema as a result of retinal blood vessel occlusion.

Injections of medicine directly into the eye at a clinic / treatment room. Before the injection the eye is anesthetized with drops. Medicine is injected directly into the vitreous cavity. The whole procedure takes a number of minutes, while the injection itself lasts only a few seconds.

Routine treatment of macular degeneration – mainly the damage to macula – the center of the retina which is responsible for central vision: color vision, reading, object recognition, driving, and other functions that require an accurate vision.

Ophthalmologist examination, fluorescein test: an imaging of the retina where the retinal blood vessels are sampled using a dye (fluorescentic) substance, injected into the hand vein. This imaging identifies sources of leaking, blood vessels occlusion and the appearance of abnormal new blood vessels.
